Should I start working with a Personal Trainer if I’m injured?

So the other week I broke my toe… 🦶 If you’re a Personal Trainer… you hate getting injured!

If you’ve been with me in the studio you will have learned about my stupid CrossFit injury and you will have also noticed how much I moaned about it… ironic I’m harping on about it yet again under this post title!

Well, I couldn’t squat or deadlift for a week or two… my two favourite exercises. Devastated! But I still didn’t miss the gym sessions I planned, I just adapted my training around the injury. While limping around like a maniac!

The great news is… we can plan this for you at Body Balance! I work with our Physiotherapy practice to design bespoke programmes so that we avoid aggravation of any injuries.

Furthermore, there are so many different aches and pains that can BENEFIT MORE from Personal Training. We specialise in rehabilitating long term injury problems and I have been so thrilled to see how we’ve improved often debilitating pain through exercise!

Here’s the Example of How We Help Injuries

Take Ken for example. Ken approached me at a time when he knew that he needed to get back into shape after a really challenging and stressful lockdown period. Unfortunately, he’d aggravated an old knee problem and was suffering from tennis elbow. Two pretty major body parts when considering exercise. However, his programme was properly planned out and we looked to build his leg strength around his knee, avoiding any sort of knee extension exercises. We also made sure that we planned no resistance work above head height (e.g. shoulder presses).

Within weeks, not only was Ken seeing incredible improvements with both his physical and mental health, but he also felt less pain. Now Ken is bench pressing a large weight and doing walking lunges all around the gym (everybody’s favourite!).

Don’t Put Off Personal Training Because Of Your Pain

Injuries can be cripplingly painful and can be the perfect excuse to avoid getting back into the gym. Any Personal Trainer will know that there are certain injuries that require nothing but rest and close rehab. But this Personal Trainer can work with Healthcare professionals to construct the perfect plan to overcome injuries. We do things properly here!

So if you’re putting off getting started because of this, please reach out to me directly for a consultation. I can give you confidence that, in our completely private studio in Warwickshire, we can work on strength, fitness and general health and still rehab your injury.
